The Team has been involved extensively in handling media litigation work, notably in libel and slander. This is a major portfolio of ZISTHLP’s practice area.

The Team works closely with major media organizations, such as NSTP, The Star, Utusan Melayu, Sun Media, TV3, NTV7, and CNBC in litigation matters. This principally involves providing defence work and appearing as counsel in Court on behalf of these clients.

ZISTHLP handled a large number of matters for these clients which were actively litigated.

In the litigation front, ZISTHLP is widely recognized in the legal and media industry as the pre-eminent practitioners leading the defence for the media. In this regard, ZISTHLP has consistently chalked up impressive verdicts in favour of the media. This includes claims brought by prominent personalities including politicians and artists. Amongst the Plaintiffs against whom the Team have come up against are Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng and other prominent politicians.

The Team are able to also work closely with reporters and editors in providing urgent “on the spot” pre-publication advices. Such advices are typically rendered via phone, fax or emails just prior to publication. This is an example of risk management and value-added services which ZISTHLP provides.

The Team have also been active in presenting seminars on media law to various media organizations. Examples are:
